Jeff Hill brings 30 years of experience in aviation leadership and safety processes to his 15 years of experience as a CRM facilitator and TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer in healthcare. A dedicated teacher and coach with a vast amount of experience in teamwork-based patient safety programs, Jeff formerly taught CRM to the pilots and crews of Delta Airlines. In healthcare, he has led CRM/TeamSTEPPS program implementations at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Cincinnati Children’s, Missouri University Healthcare, and Pensacola Naval Hospital, just to name a few. Mr. Hill also serves as an examiner for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence.
Prior to joining LifeWings, Jeff was the Associate Director responsible for CRM/TeamSTEPPS projects at Vanderbilt and in those nine years at the helm led implementations in multiple departments including perioperative services, OB/GYN and emergency services. His expertise included the development of safety tools and educational curriculum supporting patient safety through teamwork and communication. Specializing in measuring culture, Jeff led the house-wide administration of the Safety Culture Survey, analyzed the data and assisted departmental leadership in developing action plans. In addition, he developed and managed the quarterly Continuing Medical Education activities for surgery, anesthesiology and perioperative services.
Mr. Hill is a nationally known speaker on patient safety. His invited presentations include those at Partners Healthcare, The Joint Commission, and the National Patient Safety Foundation.
A retired Colonel and former Air Force Aerospace Flight Physiologist, Mr. Hill has logged hundreds of flight hours in 28 different types of military aircraft. He is also a commercially rated pilot. Jeff graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelors of Science degree. He also has a Masters of Science degree in Physiology from the University of California, Davis and has been published in the American Journal of Physiology.
