Sara Atwell

Sara Atwell is a veteran healthcare senior executive with over 30 years of clinical, operations and performance management experience. She specializes in performance improvement, patient safety, cultural transformation, and quality outcomes. Ms. Atwell has consulted with a multitude of hospitals and health systems. Her projects include the CRM/TeamSTEPPS implementation at six different hospitals.

She was one the first to combine her expertise in CRM/TeamSTEPPS implementations with her knowledge in the improvement methodologies of Six Sigma and Toyota Lean. Ms. Atwell is certified in Quality, Safety and Performance Improvement through Intermountain Health Care Improvement school.

Prior to joining LifeWings, Sara served as the Chief Quality, Patient Safety and Service Officer at the Oakwood Health System. In addition to her leadership of the patient safety improvement at Oakwood, she developed skills in strategic planning, post-acute and integrated continuum network development, and infection prevention. Other areas of expertise include data analytics and physician integration.

Ms. Atwell started her career in healthcare as a nurse. Her areas of nursing specialty included Critical Care, Medical – Surgical and Orthopedics.

Ms. Atwell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan in 1983. She went on to further her education receiving a Masters in Health Administration in 1995.
